No space for esoteric

There is no reason for cable industry’s mystification: characteristics of conductive materials are well examined, no revolution has happened in this area for a while already and no prerequisites for the one are observed. Fine sound is possible only in case of compilation of the right chemical composition of materials for the cable’s production and shaping the right construction out of these. No esoteric, only intelligent engineering and fine tuning via listening tests. This is exactly what they do at Tchernov Audio.

As it often happens, everything started from dissatisfaction. Tchernov Audio company was founded in 1997 and from that time has been dealing with distribution of home and car hi-end audio products. However the owner of the company, an enthusiastic audiophile, has always struggled to assort cables which would fulfil potential of high quality systems, but would not add anything on its own to the sound neither ease customer’s purse for an amount with inadequate number of zeros. Even industrial cables and output of defence enterprises were tried out in search of the best sound. After that he decided to follow a well-known principle: if you want something to be done perfectly, do it yourself.

So was TCHERNOVAUDIO CABLE founded in 2002. The project started from own development of optimum configuration of cables and searching for factories able to produce those from well defined materials. Especially it concerns copper: as distinguished from competitors, specialists at Tchernov Audio are certain that fanatic refining of copper from oxygen is not a goal in itself neither brings especial use.

Composition and proportion of admixtures are more important: some of them, those as sulphur, phosphorus, ferrum and cadmium, are pernicious for the sound, while others, like plumbum, are beneficial quite the contrary.

Therefore the core feature of TCHERNOVAUDIO CABLE’s products is the conductors of copper with a certain balanced composition of admixtures in accordance with technology which the company calls BRC (Balanced Refinement Conductor). Not less careful attention is being paid to isolation and external jacket of the cables. Tchernov Audio utilizes prime (and not cheap) nonconducting materials as well as – in contrast with competitors – organic pigments only. Inorganic compounds in isolation influence badly both on the sound and environment. With connectors it is even more complicated: Russian entities dropped out of the list of candidates because of bureaucratic hurdles regarding handling with precious metals, they have to place orders abroad. While the audio cables themselves are of purely Russian origin. Assembly work is done in Russia as well, soldering – with plumbiferous solder only (it “sounds” better), developed in Japan especially for Tchernov Audio. On the whole, from melomaniac’s purse’s point of view, the company’s policy is quite rational: the customer pays for the main effect only – the sound, not for a redwood case or a platinum piece of decoration. Sometime such “uncapitalistic” price determination may become a reason for amazing situations like the one happened on High End 2011 exhibition in Munich. Representatives of a famous Italian company borrowed in a neighbourly way a pretty inexpensive (7 euro per meter) speaker cable Cuprum Original Two SC and made a comparative test with their own product, one more expensive in almost 30 (!) times. The test however was quickly over, the sample returned and during the rest days of the exhibition the Italians carefully avoided any discussions of the results of the listening… Range of TCHERNOVAUDIO CABLE products by now includes interconnects and speaker cables of miscellaneous price levels, including AES/EBU digital cables and HDMI as well as power cables and even uncompromising antenna (RF) cable RG6 created along with the firm’s ideology. It is impossible to tell about all these products in one article. I would just recommend you, my honoured readers, to get acquainted in person with these Russian cables attractive from quality-price ratio point of view, fully justifying TCHERNOVAUDIO CABLE’s brand slogan:

CUPRUM REFERENCE
The manufacturer does not claim that its foremost cables are the best in the world, though according to many specialists and audiophiles, in its price segment these are among acknowledged leaders. Cuprum Reference are cables, purely neutral in sound, communicating the tiniest nuances of the sound from one component of the high-end system to another without any interpretations.

CUPRUM CLASSIC
It is a universal product for systems from medium Hi Fi level to entry High End. Ultimate clarity, clearness and naturalness of the sound in its class. The family has recently been enriched with more advanced MS (Multi Shielded) indexed models. Veryy effective multi shielding distinguishes the new models. It eliminates even smallest EMI influence and therefore detrimental effect on the sound.

HDMI
An extremely well turned cable with shielded twisted-pair of 23 AWG and general double shield of copper foil and tight braiding. Thanks to this thorough design a sample of 15 meters long provides the same accuracy of transmission of digital signal as the one of 1 meter long.
